My face has got to be red on this - turned out to be dumb mistake on my part. I had run ssh-keygen on the local machine twice. The second time I ran it created "id_dsa_1024_b" and "id_dsa_1024_b.pub" respectively. It occurred to me that I had failed to change the authentication and identification files to specify my "b" keys instead of my "a" keys. Making this simple change on the local resolved the problem. Anyway, I want to thank ed.rolison@power.alstom.com Bernhard Sadlowski [sadlowsk@mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de] Al Hopper [al@logical-approach.com] for their prompt responses. The $HOME/.shosts file is not needed.
