Hi, My original post was: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- I am trying to configure a Sun E220R to connect to a NetApp Filer's console thru' the serial port. So far i have added these lines to /.tiprc baudrate=9600 parity=one and eeprom | grep tty, produces this: ttyb-rts-dtr-off=false ttyb-ignore-cd=true ttya-rts-dtr-off=false ttya-ignore-cd=true ttyb-mode=9600,8,n,1,- ttya-mode=9600,8,n,1,- When i do a 'tip /dev/cua/b', i just get the 'connected' message and nothing after that. Could someone help me the parameters to be passed to tip? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- The solution turned out to be using a cross-serial cable with pins 2 and 3 crossed. The cable which works Filer<->Laptop (Hyperterminal) does not work for Filer<->Sun box. The /etc/remote has this entry: hardwire:\ :dv=/dev/term/b:br#9600:el=^C^S^Q^U^D:ie=%$:oe=^D: and now 'tip hardwire' works. :) And i do not require a .tiprc Thanks to all those who replied.
