Thanks to Jim Blevins and Stiven Xiao. I should have read man more carefully. auto_master is suppoused to be a collection of references to other maps. So here how my auto_master looks like # niscat -h auto_master.org_dir # key value /- auto_visit.org_dir # niscat -h auto_visit.org_dir # key value /u guest:/u /usr/local guest:/usr/local /var/mail guest:/var/mail /fs/guest/usr2 guest:/fs/guest/usr2 /fs/guest/usr3 guest:/fs/guest/usr3 /fs/guest/usr4 guest:/fs/guest/usr4 I ran automount -v after I'd changed maps, but when I tryed to access any of the filesystems I got "permission denied" error, so I restarted automountd and it helped. original question --------------------------------------------------------------- I have installed NIS+ server (no replicas) and 1 NIS+ client machine according to Solaris Naming Setup and Configuration Guide. I want client machine to read auto_master table from NIS+ server. Here is what I've done: Created auto_master on server with nistbladm command # niscat -o auto_master.org_dir Object Name : "auto_master" Directory : "org_dir.visit.research.telcordia.com." Owner : "guest.visit.research.telcordia.com." Group : "" Access Rights : ----rmcdr---r--- Time to Live : 12:0:0 Creation Time : Tue Dec 11 13:59:59 2001 Mod. Time : Tue Dec 11 13:59:59 2001 Object Type : TABLE Table Type : automount_map Number of Columns : 2 Character Separator : Search Path : Columns : [0] Name : key Attributes : (SEARCHABLE, TEXTUAL DATA, CASE SENSITIVE) Access Rights : ----rmcdr---r--- [1] Name : value Attributes : (SEARCHABLE, TEXTUAL DATA, CASE SENSITIVE) Access Rights : ----rmcdr---r--- # niscat -h auto_master.org_dir # key value /u guest:/u /usr/local guest:/usr/local /var/mail guest:/var/mail /fs/guest/usr2 guest:/fs/guest/usr2 /fs/guest/usr3 guest:/fs/guest/usr3 created /u, /usr/local and /fs directories on client machine. All filesystems are shared on server and I can mount them manually from client machine, but automounter does not mount them, df -k shows nothing about those filesystems.
