Someone changed user ownership on the home directories to root??, but set the permissions correctly did resolve the problem. The environment is as follows: Sun Ultra 10 running Solaris 8 7/01(the machine is a standard build with the onboard video) It is a default install using the entire distribution(no OEM). I am using standard korn shell. I am logging in via the CDE and when I do it does the following: It accepts my login sits on the Solaris splash screen for about 18-27 seconds, The default background loads up A black background replaces the default My xterm window loads and then it stops. The toolbox does not load. I am unable to right click and pull up any window options. I can launch a new xterm from within the window. I am not seeing any errors in dmesg, .xsession-errors, and this is the error message I am getting from ./dt/errorlog: Wed Dec 05 15:11:44 2001 dtsession: Unable to start message server - exiting.
