The answer is a resounding yes, you can span multiple subnets with a single
NIS/NIS+ master without having it multihomed. Use NIS slaves/NIS+ replicas
on each subnet and initialize the clients to use the local NIS server.
Also, remember to use the securenets file to permit the map transfers.

Thanks again,
Chris

All,

I have a quick question:

We have encountered a situations where we will need to have a NIS or NIS+
master span multiple subnets. The question is can this be done, and if so,
can it be done with routing to the multiple networks? According to the Sun
docs, each master should be multihomed to each network (i.e. 4 subnets, 4
network interfaces, and a slave in each subnet).

I will summarize.

Thanks,
Chris
