Hi Managers. Original question: I have an E4500, running Solaris 8. Attached to this is an ADIC Scalar 1000 tape library with 12 Sony AIT-2 tape drives. I keep on getting messages like these: Apr 17 06:39:13 downer scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /sbus@a,0/QLGC,isp@2,10000 (isp2): Apr 17 06:39:13 downer scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: resetting interface Apr 17 06:50:56 downer Fatal error, resetting interface These messages happen during bootup. The system boots just fine. After I've booted up targets 0 and 1 on the bus work just fine, but target 2 complains and target 3 never even shows up. If I power-cycle the tape drive, then only the messages about target 2 ("reducing transfer rate" and "disabled wide SCSI mode") appear in /var/adm/messages. I've replaced the SBUS Qlogic SCSI controller card, the cable, the terminator, checked the pins, and even replaced the tape drive. Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this? Thanks for any leads, ideas, etc. grant Summary: Turns out that the external SCSI dial (the small dial that lets you select the SCSI target number) was set to the correct SCSI target number externally, but internally the SCSI target number was set to a duplicate number on the SCSI chain. So I had to 2 tape drives with the target number of 2. Once we got that figured out, everything worked just fine. Took a tape drive specialist to figure it out. grantReceived on Fri Apr 20 20:49:52 2001
