Some people mentioned lower server load using UDP, while others said that Sun's TCP implementation was more optimized than its UDP implementation. One mentioned that using UDP might cause data corruption, but I don't agree with that as NFS had always used UDP until version 3. TCP seem to be able to use bigger read and write sizes which could reduce NFS protocol overhead, offsetting the TCP overhead.
