THANKS A LOT TO SCOTT, Here is the summary to upgrade OBP. download the patch,,, move the jumper if needed,,, boot from the file the patch tells you to boot from,,,,answer the questions,,,use setenv to put the correct parameters back in nvream ,,,,put jumper back STEPS TO MOVE JUMPER... toward the back of the machine on the system board,(you may have to remove sbus cards in the middle) there are 5 side by side pin sets. three usually have jumpers already on . J2003 is the jumper so you move the jumper to connect the middle pin and the pin on the other side of the triplet set. you can now write to the nvram. you can leave the sbus cards out til the update is done because you will not be booting. remamber you will have to use the setenv command at the ok prompt after you system resets to put diag-switch? back to false or the system willtry to boot off the net SSG > > -----Original Message----- > > From: SRISHYLA G RAVI [SMTP:ravissg@migv.mot.com] > > Sent: Monday, May 14, 2001 9:42 AM > > To: Sunmanagers (E-mail) > > Subject: OPEN BOOT > > > > > > HI ALLL, > > When i am trying to install solaris 8 on 32-bit SPARC it is > asking > > to upgrade OBP becoz of not having 64-bit SPARC.
