Folks, A few days ago I asked for ideas on how to change the screen resolution of sunray attached screens. (The pixels on screen not the size of the X-Server image) I got a few replied suggesting that I should use utxsettings but this only changes the size of the xserver image and not the resolution and refresh time of the screen attached to the SunRay. The only promising mail I got was ----------- From: Jan M. STANKOVSKY <jan@ifs.univie.ac.at> Date: Tue, 29 May 2001 10:13:31 +0200 (MET DST) I'm not sure but maybe your looking for something like: /var/opt/SUNWut/preferences (SunRay 1.1) There's a DEFAULT file with several settings and under /var/opt/SUNWut/preferences/ZeroAdmin/xx/pseudo (SunRa 1.1) you can put in files named after the Ethernet-number of the ray, settings for this certain ray. Sorry if I misunderstood you question... j. ----------- Unfortunately I could not find any reference to this in the SunRay 1.2 System. I spent quite a while on the phone to Sun Support trying to resolve this question. Ultimately, they told me "wait for the next version of sunray server software .. maybe we will take care of it then...". I've been unable to find any kind of workaround. Hence our setup is to use only "nice" monitors on our Sunray units (either higher-quality 17" monitors that perform fine @ 1280x1024 with reasonably high refresh rates - or - we use decent quality 19" monitors for which 1280x1024 is the "norm"). Trying to use a 15" or 14" monitor on a sunray is really .. a hassle .. I've found. However: If you do learn of a solution .. I'll be delighted to hear about it! :-) -Tim Chipman --------------- Sad isn't it ? cheers tobi -- ______ __ _ /_ __/_ / / (_) Oetiker, ETZ J97, ETH, 8092 Zurich, Switzerland / // _ \/ _ \/ / phoneto:+41(0)1-632-5286 faxto:+41(0)1-632-1517 /_/ \.__/_.__/_/ mailto:oetiker_at_ee.ethz.ch http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetikerReceived on Wed Jun 6 07:40:11 2001
