As many pointed out, there is a big difference between
having a sunsolve account and just pointing to the
website sunsolve.sun.com. Sunsolve website just give
you the basic recommended patches. If you want more
than this (document database, SRDB's, InfoDocs, Early
Notifier etc..) or some really hot patches, you will
need to have a sunsolve account (ie support contract)
According to Mark Neill, there are other software that
you can access if you have a sunsolve account, such as
coredump debugger, Sun's System explorer, the sun
System Management console etc...
Bugtraq is a website that is community-contributed-to
list of bugs and fixes. Neill mentioned the website is
www.bugtraq.com
I think Sun also has a very comprehensive bugtraq
database inhouse, but it is only available to Sun's
tech support employees, not to contract customers

Original question:

I have a question about Sunsolve patches:
What is the advantage of having a Sunsolve account?
I've noticed that I do *not *need to have a Sunsolve
account in order to download certain patches (after
I run patchdiag). So what is the big deal about having
to have a Sunsolve account?
Also, I've heard about bugtraq database. How does one
get access to Sun bugtraq (or bugtraq+) database?
Is there a mailing list where I can subscribe to be
notified of the new Sun bugs or bugtraqs?
