Thanks to: Doug Otto <doug.otto@npawest.com> Lynette Bellini <lynette@software.umn.edu> Ronald Loftin <reloftin@syr.edu> Aaron La <aaron_la@hotmail.com> Aaron suggests to go to Quantum.com and download the DLT tools for Window (for Win98) (run via a PC). This method is only good if you have a PC connected to the DLT4700 (via a SCSI card). Also, DLT tool is a relatively short test, not a comprehensive test (ie burn-in) used to exercise the robotic tape library Ronald Loftin suggests to get a program from the following website: http://www.crewes.ucalgary.ca/~henry/shuffle Lynette suggests a program called STCTL at: http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~eric/stctl Doug Otto mentioned that Veritas Netbackup has a program called robtest that will do tape library diagnostics (Note: netbackup is not cheap) Sun might add this function in the future release of SunVTS (according to a diag engineer from the SunVTS team. Currently SunVTS (4.2, 4.3), while very comprehensive in nature, only tests the tape drive, *not* exercises the robotic tape library.
