Hi managers. I want to say thanks for the answers I received, which were from Ian Perez Ponce, Modrego K., Mark Cohen, and Kristopher Briscoe. All of them recommend Veritas FileSystem (VxFS) for this. One of them suggested that Veritas theoretically supported up to 8000 TB! Most of them said that why would I want to manage a filesystem that is bigger than 1 TB. Well, since we do Internet data storage and archiving, that is why. What we have decided to go with here is, for right now, go with an HSM solution that will let us scale our system to about 5 TB this week, and to about 10 TB in the next couple of months. Since we already have about 7 million files, and are growing daily by 50-60K files, then we need something that can handle the multiple TB filesystem. Original message: I know that Solaris 2.8 supports a 1 TB filesystem, max. Does anybody know what third party software, hopefully freeware or shareware, will support larger filesystems? This is for (obviously) Solaris 2.8 on an E4500, with 4GB RAM. Thanks. GrantReceived on Thu Jul 19 15:35:09 2001
