I followed his suggestions for the ntp.conf files, stopped and started ntp on the server (bigcrow), and on the client (magpie) I did a "ntpdate -vb bigcrow" to sync the time, then started ntp on the client (magpie). REPLY BELOW: There's a FAQ at http://www.ntp.org. All NTP machines must be clients of something, so you just want to use the local clock on bigcrow it sounds like... bigcrow ntp.conf driftfile /etc/ntp.drift # Could be used in the future server 127.127.1.0 # local clock fudge 127.127.1.0 stratum 10 # make sure the clock doesn't look good. magpie ntp.conf driftfile /etc/ntp.drift # keep long-term state on disk. server bigcrow -- Darren Dunham ddunham@taos.com Unix System Administrator Taos - The SysAdmin Company Got some Dr Pepper?
