Hi everybody ! The problem was solved thanks to an ideea given to me by David = Harrington (Thanks David). I just modified the OBP variable boot-file from the = from the default empty field to "/platform/sun4u/kernel/unix" . Now works O.K. I still think there is a problem in firmware, which was not solved by the upgrade to the latest firmware level available. But since there is this workaround available, I'm not too concerned about. George;=20 This is an old problem.=20 Look in the archives Jan thru May, and I think you'll find the = permanent way around the problem. I had that problem when I first took over this job, = and there is a patch which fixes it.=20 The short term (quick) fix is as you show:=20 boot: cannot open kernel/unix=20 Enter filename [kernel/unix]: /platform/sun4u/kernel/unix = [enter]=20 Not a good solution with a critical machine!=20 -----Original Message-----=20 From: george.done@dutchtone.nl [ <mailto:george.done@dutchtone.nl>]=20 Sent: Friday, September 28, 2001 12:59=20 To: sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org=20 Subject: Netra 1405 booting problem=20 Hi everybody !=20 I have a Netra 1405 (same motherboard as Ultra80 and Sun E420R).
