I received a variety of responses. Here are capsule summaries: - Don't NFS mount the CD containing the setup_install_server script. [I wasn't.] - Try using a newer version of the Solaris 8 distribution - May be a possible bug in cpio which occurs when large amounts of data are involved; try looking for a patch. - Try burning a new CD, and using a slower copy speed (e.g. 4X instead of 8X). [I was using a copied CD, so this may be a possibility.] Interestingly, when I just ran the single line in the setup_install_server script which does most of the work (a find command piped into cpio), the error message: sirius# find . -depth -print | cpio -pdmu /export/jumpstart/5.8 find: cannot open .: File table overflow 537123 blocks was returned. I will try this again with a new Sun-supplied CD, and see if I'm more successful.
