I will summarize it. ************************************************** I got several response. Special thanks to Casper Dik [Casper.Dik@Sun.COM] Bond, Ryan [rbond@ou.edu] Maccy [maccy@maccomms.co.uk] ************************************************** SOLUTION: Yes, we have got 400 Mhz/8MB UltraSPARC Modules. I did the following: Turned it off the Auto-reboot. Reset-all Come back at OK, prompt limit-ecache-size it worked. Great. -----Original Message----- From: Maccy [mailto:maccy@maccomms.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, October 25, 2001 10:20 AM To: Raj, Dilip (SD-EX) Subject: Re: boot cdrom gives the folowing error On Thu, 25 Oct 2001, Raj, Dilip (SD-EX) wrote: > Sun Guru, > > I got a E3500, and A5200 storage. > I am trying to load Solaris 2.51 11/97 OS , and it gives me following error. > > OK, boot cdrom > > Loading /platform.sun4u/ufsboot > > Fast Data Access MMU miss. > Any Idea. Hi there, Are you by any chance using CPUs => 400 MHz ??? To sort the Fast Data... error, set the AUTO-BOOT? to FALSE from OK prompt, and then type reset-all. When the system boots and goes to the OK prompt, type 'limit-ecache-size' and then boot or 'boot-cdrom' etc.. Problem is with Solaris 2.5, 2.6 and early versions of 7 not being able to handle 400=> CPUs with 8Mb Ecache... 4Mb seems ok but can still be flaky. You need to boot as above and then (for Sol 2.6) load a full rec. patch set. Hope this helps, but let me know if you still get problems. Regards, Mark MahabirReceived on Thu Oct 25 19:53:51 2001
