I apologize this is late in coming and I am unable to provide credit to the
people who submited their responses(lost my pst file).

Someone suggested checking the file permissions. Someone changed user
ownership on the home directories to root??, but set the permissions
correctly did resolve the problem.

Thanks to all those that replied so quickly and I am terribly sorry I am
unable to mention your names.

Hello,

I am having an issue when I login to my workstation. The environment is as
follows:
Sun Ultra 10 running Solaris 8 7/01(the machine is a standard build with the
onboard video)
It is a default install using the entire distribution(no OEM).
I am using standard korn shell.

I am logging in via the CDE and when I do it does the following:
It accepts my login
sits on the Solaris splash screen for about 18-27 seconds,
The default background loads up
A black background replaces the default
My xterm window loads and then it stops.
The toolbox does not load. I am unable to right click and pull up any
window options. I can launch a new xterm from within the window.

I am not seeing any errors in dmesg, .xsession-errors, and this is the error
message I am getting from ./dt/errorlog:
Wed Dec 05 15:11:44 2001
dtsession: Unable to start message server - exiting.

Wed Dec 05 15:42:31 2001
dtsession: Connection to server lost - exiting.

I have included my .kshrc file.

#### .kshrc ###########
WHO=`/usr/ucb/whoami`
HOSTNAME=$(hostname)
PS1='
$PWD/
$WHO@$HOSTNAME -> '

set -o emacs
set -o noclobber

alias a='alias'
alias tn='telnet'
alias ping='ping -s'
alias grep='/usr/xpg4/bin/egrep '
alias lsdir='ls -l|grep drwx'
alias mkdirdate='mkdir ftp_`date +%m"_"%d`'
alias df='df -k'
alias kshrc='. ~/.kshrc'
alias more=less
alias printman='~/scripts/printman'
alias lp='lp -d206_1'
alias netscape='netscape -no-about-splash -
alias vi='/usr/local/bin/vim'
alias dt='dtterm -fg white -bg black -sb -k
########################

If anyone can point out a possible problem or indicate a log file I am not
looking at I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time,

Shawn Russell
