Hello, I should have known to look at stty and what it thought of the terminal but I was thrown off by the problem only occuring on one type of hardware. stty -a showed intr=<undef> - odd I thought until I noticed a setting in my .profile that did exactly what it was asked to, stty intr "" . It seems that all other machines were ignoring this request. I removed the .profile entry and all is well again. Now I have to find out why the stty intr "" was being ignored in the first place.
