Yes, the J3691A will do a 'break', but also suffers from (possible) frequent lockups that require power cycles, and will also send enough garbage down the serial port to send a Sun to the ok prompt. Just about everyone said it's doable (and done), but it's always 'better' to use a 'real' terminal console.
