Great thanks to Dan who was the only one replied. The name of this temperature monitoring package is ASM, for UltraAX-MP it can be downloaded from http://www.sun.com/microelectronics/boards/ax/mp/software.html. Thanks, Alex Here is the original question: Subject: temperature monitoring for UltraAX-MP Date: Tue, 5 Feb 2002 23:36:23 +0000 (UTC) Gurus, please, help with some questions regarding temperature monitoring of UltraAX-MP boxes.. Here is the situation: I have old UltraAX-MP boxes running Solaris 2.6 with temperature monitoring set up by someone 3 years ago. The monitoring is done with a script "readi2c" that reads 1st byte of devices: /devices/pci@1f,4000/ebus@1/i2c@14,600000/adc@0,9e:00temperature,translated /devices/pci@1f,4000/ebus@1/i2c@14,600000/adc@0,9e:01temperature,translated /devices/pci@1f,4000/ebus@1/i2c@14,600000/adc@0,9e:02temperature,translated /devices/pci@1f,4000/ebus@1/i2c@14,600000/adc@0,9e:03temperature,translated and present it as a temperature of .. well, I don't what - probably of CPU, motherboard, and no idea about the last two. The driver being used thru devices is "i2cadc": # modinfo |grep i2c 27 646c2000 1c4a 150 1 i2cadc (I2C ADC 32-bit 1.34, 98/12/11 # ls -lL /devices/pci@1f,4000/ebus@1/i2c@14,600000/adc@0,9e:01temperature,translated cr--r--r-- 1 root sys 150,257 Aug 17 1999 /devices/pci@1f,4000/ebus@1/i2c@14,600000/adc@0,9e:01temperature,translated It belongs to package SUNWi2cr: system SUNWi2cr Device drivers for I2C devices, (Root, 32-bit) This package is not on standard Solaris 2.6 installation CD.. The questions are: - what is this software istalled to monitor server temparature? Where to get it or at least the documentation? - what do these values mean (temperature of what)? - what is the range of normal temperature values for such server operation? - and - what is the best way to monitor temperature of CPU, motherboard for UltraAXMP and Ultra 420R boxes? Thanks very much! I will appreciate any help and summarize the answers.
