Thanks Managers, I got reply from Thomas J Jones,Scott Sorrentino, Steve Hammond, Al Hopper Al Hopper suggested to define smarthost in sendmail config file but it was already there. The problem was the exchange box was not set to allow mails from sunbox mainly for security reasons. Amod Ozarkar. My question was : ================================================================= Hello Managers, I have a problem with sendmail. I can send mails from sunbox ffultra within my network i.e. anyuser@mycompany.com but cannot send outside addresses such as fname@yahoo.com ffultra communicates with our mailhost which is mycompany.com. Mailhost accepts address and then replies "not local host yahoo.com, not a gateway .. user unknown" Is this firewall issue at mailhost or it can be solved by configuring sendmail or dns at ffultra and how. Mailhost is NT mail server. ffultra is sun ultra-1 with solaris 2.6 and sendmail 8.8 Any help is greatly appreciated. Of course will summarise. I love this list. Thanks.
