Unfortunately the server isn4t under contract! This way I am trying to solve it together a SUN system engineer. All the answers i have received seens to point to the same direction, maybe be a problem with the GBICs (I have already changed it), the cables or IO Board. I am going to change the cables today nigth and i hope this be the reason. Anyway, thats a good opportunity to renew the contract. Thanks all helps! Sometimes that can be the problem. oh, btw, to give you a small pointer for your english: you would say "Dear" by itself to address your spouse, your mother, or someone like that. If you want to start your message with "Dear" but you don't necessarily know who you are talking to personally, then you should also have the person(s) it is addressed to. So in this case it would be "Dear sunmanagers". Just fyi. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Christopher L. Be sure your I/O boards are at the correct firmware levels and are the correct rev ("dash levels"). Be sure your GBICs are at the correct rev levels. When we see this problem, we change the I/O board and both GBICs. If you are using SBus cards, change them also. Change the fibre stuff on the array. Sun had problems with older GBICs. One of the vendors produced GBICs that didn't work as they should under all circumstances. If your E3500 is under contract, have Sun send a Field Engineer to swap the parts. Your E3500 is under contract, isn't it? If not, use this situation to get your company to buy a contract. Everyone will be happier and sleep better! What we made to solve the Problem was not just to change the GBIC in the server but also in the Storage Device. If then the problem still exists, you might have a real physical cable problem! Hope you have a contract with SUN (to change the parts) and i hope you get this fixed, because that is really annoying! Please check you are not using Vixel GBICs, case you are, you should probably replace them by IBM GBICs. There is a problem with Vixel GBICs. You said you replaced GBICs in IO board, have you tried replacing the GBICs in your storage device? I hope it helps.
