Thanx to the following: Martynas Buozis Eric Horne Mann Michael Adam Kirby All of which gave 3/4 of the answer I needed. 1) create a pkg_no_ask asmin file that looks like this: basedir=default runlevel=nocheck conflict=nocheck setuid=nocheck action=nocheck partial=quit instance=unique idepend=quit rdepend=quit space=quit mail= (This is what was recommended by the above people, who told me about the -a switch then I did this: I created a ans-common file with a single carriage return. the I used the following command line: pkgadd -a pkg_no_ask -d <pkgname> < ans-common ans-common gives pkgadd an enter, so it goes to the next question, which is then skipped by the pkg_no_add file given by the -a flag.
