Thanks to all who replied, but all suggestions, while good things to look out for, weren't the problem for me. They included: Checking for rogue servers (this one had bit me before and wasn't the case) Making sure that the jumpstart directory was mounted/shared as ro, not rw (mines was ro). I did manage to get it working, however I don't know what exactly was wrong. I just blew away the old dirs, and started from scratch with setup_install_server and such. It worked then.
