Hi All, Thanx a lot to all of you replied, I recieved around dozen replies. There were few replies that suggested to build up the NIS master from scratch and then create the slave servers and then update the clients. Few suggested that the my approach would work fine. When we migrated NIS from SunOS hosts to Solaris, created a new slave and then moved the master, then we disabled the old slaves last. If you have "Managing NFS and NIS" (O'Reilly) be careful following their instructions for moving NIS master...I found their method did not work. I've attached my notes from this move, I hope it helps. Be sure to use the 'securenets' option for security. I found the "Naming Services" docs at docs.sun.com extremely helpful! Good luck!
