Thanks to all who replied... The sad thing is the E420R doesn't have any physical temperature monitoring hardware. From Petri Kalberg @ SUN: >Unfortunately there is no way getting system temperatures from E420R (nor E220R). >They are based on Ultra80 (and Ultra60) motherboards that lack temperature sensors >(as they were designed for workstations). With E250 (and V880) prtdiag shows you >temperatures among other usefull status information. I think T1 doesn't have >temperature sensors either, but you can monitor fans, fault-leds etc. using LOM. So that's that! I did have a suggestion from Brett Lymn to get the ambient temperature from inside the enclosure using a serial temperature monitor (e.g. http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/meas/ck110.htm). I will definately be trying this. For anyone who's interested, to return the temperature (plus other stuff) on an E250, V880 etc. use: /usr/platform/`/sbin/uname -i`/sbin/prtdiag -v Thanks also to Amit Mahajan and Marco Santoro.
