Thanks to all who replied ,but i ran into problems with scripts provided by veritas. Replies were like 1) Apply all vxvm patches 2) reinstall vxvm 3) try manually starting the vx I did run upgrade_start Upgraded from 2.6 to 2.8 but upgrade_finish didn't work for me. I tried to reinstall the vxvm vxinstall used simply exit with out doing any thing. finally i removed all the vx related pkgs and rebooted the server , installed vxvm afresh thi time vxinstall worked as expected . I encapsulated all the disks . rebooted the server , and had manually mount the /cvsroot vx slice. I got back all the data intact. What i didn't understand here is where does the partition information of vx gets stored for me even after removing vx i got all the slice intact. Time to explore many more things in vxvm. Regards Raghu Hello Managers, We upgraded a 2.6 box connected with A5200 Disk array to 2.8. Procedure fallowed was 1) Run upgrade_start 2) Jumpstart with upgrade profile 3) Apply veritas vxvm patches 4) Run upgrde_finish ( both were done in single user mode). problem is first time upgrade_finish didn't do any thing , later now it asks for a license ( i never applied any license for a5200) . Not all the disks are showing up as /dev/dsk/ not as vx disks. i don't see my 100 Gb cvs slice in the host. Do i need to install vol manager again ? I will summarize.
