Wooo. Speedy or what. My thanks go to larry.garrett and Jez Ahl + others who are no doubt telling me the same thing. The Netra ethernet interfaces are dmfe0 and dmfe1 Thanks all Matt -----Original Message----- From: Matt Wells Sent: 21 August 2002 15:27 To: 'sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org' Subject: network prob on Netra X1 Greetings Sun Managers I have a Netra X1 (history unknown - no cdrom) which has Sol 8 on it but cannot see it's ethernet interfaces. When I connect to the serial port, on boot I get:- SunOS Release 5.8 Version Generic_108528-09 64-bit Copyright 1983-2001 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved. ifconfig: plumb: eri0: Bad file number ip_rput_dlpi(eri1): DL_ERROR_ACK for DL_ATTACH_REQ(11), errno 8, unix 0 ip_rput_dlpi(eri1): DL_ERROR_ACK for DL_BIND_REQ(1), errno 3, unix 0 ip_rput_dlpi(eri1): DL_ERROR_ACK for DL_PHYS_ADDR_REQ(49), errno 3, unix 0 ip_rput_dlpi(eri1): DL_ERROR_ACK for DL_UNBIND_REQ(2), errno 3, unix 0 ip_rput_dlpi(eri1): DL_ERROR_ACK for DL_DETACH_REQ(12), errno 3, unix 0 ifconfig: SIOCSLIFNAME for ip: eri1: no such interface moving addresses from failed IPv4 interfaces: eri0 (couldn't move, no alternative interface) eri1 (couldn't move, no alternative interface). Hostname: harry The system is coming up. Please wait. etc ifconfig -a gives me ifconfig -a lo0: flags=1000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 8232 index 1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000 but no eri0 or eri1 ports. When these ports are plugged into a hub however the link light becomes active and flickers. Is this a hardware prob or something simpler? Will summarize. regards Matt Matt Wells _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Wed Aug 21 11:02:12 2002
