summary: login file for sh

Thanks much for the help, especially Marco and John
Riddoch. That was exactly it.

The problem was: I was getting an error logging in using
sh, from the /etc/profile file where i was using syntax
like:
export PATH=/usr/bin.....

Upon breaking it up ie putting the export on a separate
line, I dont get the error. Thanks, I've learned something.
I didnt know that sh does not like such syntax, while it
worked quite well with ksh & bash.
