It was very simple, and I thank all those who pointed me in the right direction. Once you define a print queue via jetadmin, a file is created named "/etc/lp/printers/<<QUEUE_NAME>>/configuration". The contents are as follows: Banner: on Content types: simple Device: /dev/eng_ls Interface: /usr/lib/lp/model/hpnpl/net_ljx000 Printer type: unknown Modules: Options: landscape Simply place the desired options on the "options" line. Curiously enough "Banner: on" is the setting you get whether you request a banner page or not. --Jim jim.malloy@convergys.c om To: sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org Sent by: cc: sunmanagers-admin@sunm Subject: Specifying options for a print queue anagers.org 11/15/2002 04:17 PM Probably simple, but I'm just not finding it... I have installed HP Jetdirect on Solaris8 and created a queue for a HP LJ4050N. This works just fine. I wish to create multiple queues with different default characteristics. i.e. if the primary queue is named "foo", i wish to have a queue called "foo-portrait" that defaults to portrait, or "foo-2p" which prints 2 pages per page, etc. How do I do this? lpfilter looks promising (almost). I realize that users can specify options via lp, but I want to create specific queues for simplicity. Thanks in advance, --Jim -- "NOTICE: The information contained in this electronic mail transmission is intended by Convergys Corporation for the use of the named individual or entity to which it is directed and may contain information that is privileged or otherwise confidential.
