Thanks to Scott Howard <scott@doc.net.au> Adam Bracewell <Adam.Bracewell@toyota-fs.com> Christophe DIARRA <diarra@ipno.in2p3.fr> mike.salehi@kodak.com all of then with the same recommendatios that worked (together, didn't try just one of them): - use Solaris 8 CD, and - use ufsrestore rf /dev/rmt/0n ------------------------- ORIGINAL MESSAGE -------------------------- UE 3000 Solaris 8. c0t0d0s0 died. I'm following normal procedure for restoring from tape. Never tried before in Sol 8, maybe I'm doing something wrong? - Change disk, repartition and format it. - Booted with Solaris 2.6 CD (for no special reason, it was the first one I found) - mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 in /tmp/a - cd /tmp/a - ufesrestore if /dev/rmt/0n - ufesrestore> add * - ufesrestore> add .* (because I noticed .profile,... did not appear with an '*' in ls - ufesrestore> extract - ufesrestore> specify volume: .... 1 After an hour of extracting files, millions of messages are now apperaring in console, like (approx.) these: - cannot create hard link ./../etc/xxxxxxx/xxxxxxx cross device link, or - cannot create hard link ./../xxx/xxxxxxx/xxxxxxx no such file or directory I'm waiting messages to stop to reboot. Will the restore be wrong, or can I assume it'll be ok? What's the mistake in the procedure. Many thanks. _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Fri Nov 22 08:20:06 2002
