The answer to my question is you can't export a subdirectory of an exported directory. However, you can mount it with the mount command. My original question Is there a way to share a sub folders in Solaris 9? In my /etc/dfs/dfstab file I have this entry share -F nfs -o rw=ntw:sunw:sgiw:macw -d "home dirs" /export/home1 and I want to also share this folder under /export/home1 share -F nfs -o rw=ntw:sunw:sgiw:macw -d "martinidir" /export/home1/martini and I get this error share_nfs: /export/home1/martini: parent-directory (/export/home1) already shared I realize that /export/home1/martini is already shared when sharing /export/home1. The reason I want to do this is so that in Mac OS X 10.3.3 I want to explicitly connect to server nfs://hostname/export/home1/martini Instead of having to mount nfs://hostname/export/home1 which would mount everyone's home directory that is in the /export/home1 volume. Is there a way to do this? Or, does Solaris 9 have the capability to share nfs volumes as appleshare volumes or SMB so the Macs can access them?
