As it turned out RM6.22.1 doesn't like Solaris 2.6 when /usr and / are on separate slices. There are several work arounds available, and since I was in a recovery situation, I combined the / and /usr slices. I am now back up and running to before the pre-requisite patches. If something goes wrong then I will send another email. Thanks to David Eisner for his usefull RTFM suggestion. It was actually in the RM6.22 to RM6.22.1 upgrade guide but since I was installing from scratch...I decided not to read that. I think I will give it a complete read now before I install it again. One other thing I noticed is that there is an issue with the VERITAS sg driver and RM. I will be installing 4.5FP6 BS on this machine so if there are any problems I will call VERITAS Support.... Regards, Marco OK, I am trying to add some more storage to an old E3000. I have an A1000 and so I figured...why not. I updated the firmware to the latest. Rebooted OK. I updated to the required patches. Rebooted OK. I added the X1065A SCSI card. At the OK prompt...probe SCSI all, detected the A1000. Installed RAID Manager 6.22.1...Rebooted and below is now the boot output... Some more specifics: 1) Node also has 2 older Sun SSA FC arrays being managed by VxVM 2.5 2) When I inherited the machine root's shell was /bin/ksh which is not available...DOH!!! Can't do a boot -b 3) Need to double check but I think that I no longer have an encapsulated root disk...as it failed sometime ago and was just replaced. 4) The install process for RM6.22.1 is at the bottom of this email... Two questions: 1) Please confirm...but I think I need to restore... 2) When I try again...what do I do to make sure RAID Manager doesn't screw me up again? **THE BOOT** Rebooting with command: boot Boot device: /sbus@3,0/SUNW,fas@3,8800000/sd@0,0 File and args: SunOS Release 5.6 Version Generic_105181-38 [UNIX(R) System V Release 4.0] Copyright (c) 1983-2003, Sun Microsystems, Inc. soc0: port 1: Fibre Channel is ONLINE soc0: port 0: Fibre Channel is ONLINE WARNING: forceload of drv/sf failed WARNING: forceload of drv/socal failed VxVM starting in boot mode... configuring network interfaces: hme0 hme1.
