All, Than you to those who replied personally (Jeff D, Linh T, Chad J). This turned out to be an NFS issue ... a collegue had changed the entry for the jumpstart NFS shared directory. This was flagged by a long forgotten command, found in my notes for custom solaris CDs, that may be familiar to you regular jumpstart users out there, /usr/sbin/install.d/pfinstall. It flagged another error as well, that I cannot recall and suggested a reboot of the jumpstart server min order to rectify the issue. PLEASE _RTM_ FIRST (TWICE) AND HEED THE WARNING THOUGH BEFORE USING IT: WARNINGS If the -d or -D option is not specified, pfinstall may per- form an actual installation on the system by using the specified profile, and the data on the system may be overwritten. >From what I understand from Sun 3rd Level support, when jumpstart hangs at the point where it did, then it is invariably a netwrok issue. My E250 is now a clone of the V440 - very happy with the results and the hours of work the flash archive mechanism has saved me. It would seem feasible ... they are both sun4u, but it is failing after outputting: 'whoami: no domain name' and before the 'Configuring /dev and /devices' line. I get no errors, the E250 just seems to hang at this point and will not break, either. V440 - 4 x internal 36GB drives and 1 x 3310 attached E250 - 1 x internal 9GB drive and 1 x A1000 attached Thank you, Mike _________________________________________________________________ Dream of owning a home?
