Hi list, very thanks to all who replied! I have checked the config file for spaces and tabs. There are only tabs. I have compared our syslog.conf with an original one, no difference. (without local7.none) I checked if syslogd opens /var/adm/messages , it does. Restarting syslogd results in normal operation, but I cannot see any reason for the vacancies... One thing is weird, the process ID of syslogd is very high (greater than 5000) but ps -ef told me that syslogd was started while system boot (compared with uptime) However, thanks for all the suggestions! greetz, Aleks > -----Urspr|ngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Pavic, Aleksander > Gesendet: Freitag, 2.
