Hi, Here's the summary. See below for the original question. Marian Dragomir send me the following: To save a VxVM disk group configuration database: # vxprint -g diskgroup -hmQqr > backup-diskgroup This command saves the definition of the volumes, plexes, subdisks, and the disk group itself You can also use the command: # vxprint -g diskgroup -hmvpsQqr > backup-diskgroup This command saves the definition of the volumes, plexes, and subdisks only. To display the saved configuration information you must use: # vxprint -D - -rht < backup-diskgroup This command displays the entire disk group definition, with all its objects. Martynas Buozis did send me a very useful mail with several tips. The link to the original is: http://www.eng.auburn.edu/pub/mail-lists/ssastuff/recovery.html#espen Tom Jones & Mike Jackson send me the link of the Disaster Recovery document on the Veritas site http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/241528.htm Also thanks to Steve Rackham, Jagtar Ghuman, and Kevin Smith who send their way to do it, which were less extensive variations on Dragomir's method, Again, thanks to all, it helped me solving the problem. The diskconfiguration is saved, and I am happy Original Question : Hi, I need to save the current configuration under Veritas Volume Manager 3.2, as the system will be reinstalled. We probably don't need the configuration, but you never know. The diskgroups are still existing, so maybe we want to import/rebuild them on another system. I know this can be done with vxprint , writing the output to a file. But I cannot figure out which options to use. Can you help me out ?? best regards, Andy Kannberg System Manager SITE UNIX group LG Philips Displays Eindhoven The Netherlands tel: 040 - 2304678 fax: 040 - 2785405 e-mail: Andy.Kannberg@LGPhilips-Displays.com _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Wed Jul 21 06:11:00 2004
