I would like to thank the following people: Mossey Fahey David Foster John England Tim Evans Daniel Nuno Darren Dunham Esteban dflores@smi-ps.com Most replies that I need to have Sun's Alternate Pathing installed, as this is the patch for AP. Plus some others added to that that the patch is trying to patch a program and not a patch. I realize that now, but when you're under a lot of pressure, sometimes you don't realize the obvious. Some others suggested that I read the README file. The solution was for me to run the upgrade_start script with the -check option. I figured that would ferret out any patches I was missing. Since the script didn't find anything wrong, I proceded and didn't worry about the patch. Let me say that I had read all the docs ahead of time to make sure I knew all the gotchas for the upgrade of VxVM. I read the Installation Guide from Veritas, and it says that this is a required patch. I also read the README file. The README file talks about AP, but nothing explicitly says you can ignore the patch if you don't have AP installed. Anyway, the machine is patched, and up to speed, so I can't complain.
