Thanks to George for his reply this worked for me! Try adding your mail relay host to submit.cf in the /etc/mail dir. And make sure the mail relay host is defined in the /etc/hosts file. That is how I got mine to work. Had the same error -George I did what George suggested but did not need to add my mail host to my /etc/hosts file but I did add it to my /etc/mail/submit.cf file. Here is my original question I have a solaris 9 new installed machine and I'm not able to send mail out from it.
