SUMMARY: Automatic boot of Solaris 10 does not work

Hi,

thanks to Capser Dik the problem is solved:

try decreasing the timeout for boot;

	/etc/bootrc (line 25)

and perhaps also:

	eeprom auto-boot-timeout=1

It does mean you need to be somewhat quicker when you want
to interrupt boot.

And perhaps decreasing the blue screen timeout helps too:

	/boot/solaris/strap.rc

This is a known bug in the real mode ata driver in combination
with certain harddisk (mostly seen on laptops with varying
degrees of severity.



Setting the timeout to 2 removes the error.

Hi,

I installed Solaris 10 on my Thinkpad T30 without problems except that 
the automatic boot  does not work:

Booting the partition with Solaris without user intervention  ends with 
a "disk read error". But when I enter "b"  (when asked for i or b) 
Solaris boots without problems.

The path to tthe boot device printed in both cases is the same: 
/pci@0,0/pci-ide@1f,1/ide@0/cmdk@0,0:a
