Hi, Thanks to Michael Schneider for his quick response. Creating soft partitions on top of a mirror meta device is possible using disk suite. For example : <metastat> d5: Mirror Submirror 0: d15 State: Okay Submirror 1: d25 State: Okay Pass: 1 Read option: roundrobin (default) Write option: parallel (default) Size: 6349824 blocks (50.0 GB) d15: Submirror of d5 State: Okay Size: 6349824 blocks (50.0 GB) Stripe 0: Device Start Block Dbase State Reloc Hot Spare c1t0d0s5 0 No Okay Yes d25: Submirror of d5 State: Okay Size: 6349824 blocks (50.0 GB) Stripe 0: Device Start Block Dbase State Reloc Hot Spare c1t1d0s5 0 No Okay Yes </metastat> # metainit d19 -p d5 10gb # metainit d29 -p d5 10gb # metainit d39 -p d5 10gb # metainit d49 -p d5 10gb # metainit d59 -p d5 10gb Thanks, Alex. -- Alex Dyas , UNIX , PSINet , Geneva Dyas, Alex wrote: > Hi, > > We have a Sun Fire V210 with two disks which are in a standard mirrored > configuration using disk suite. 6 partitions have been taken for the > OS, so I have one spare. > > We have been asked to provide up to 14 (maybe more) distinct partitions > on this machine, (these cannot be simply directories).
