Tried to post summary yesterday, it got flagged probably because I had left the "Re:" in the subject line. 'installboot' and 'mount' are indeed available when you boot from SunOS 4.1.2 CD, but only if you install the mini-root (makes sense). My problem was that I forgot to define swap as partition 1 ('b'), which SunOS expects, the mini-root expects to install there. Once I repartitioned I was good to go.
