Dear managers, thanks a lot for the many responses. On Solaris 10 dns of course is a service. It's started and checked with the following commands provided that /etc/named.conf exists and the referenced zone files are correctly setup (/var/named). svcadm enable dns/server svcs -l dns/server tail -f /var/adm/messages I had to tweak my /etc/named.conf a bit and still get a rdnc related warning (I don't care for now), but it works now. Thanks a lot! Regards, Andreas > I am replacing a Solaris 9 machine with a Soalris 10 machine. The final > missing bit to migrate is the DNS server.
