Thanks for replies go to: Layton Marvin J NNSY Simon.Yuan The patch relates to OEM software, and our servers are installed using a fairly default installation which installs all of Solaris 9 but not the OEM stuff. Looking in the patch itself shows that it is part of the packages TSBWvplr.u and TSBWvplu.u. I located these on the Solaris CD and installed the packages. The patch then worked fine. Not sure this is really the 'solution' because it doesn't explain why smpatch thinks we need the patch in the first place. If the software's not installed then why does it think we need to patch it??
