Well I originally posted this back in November of last year. I haven't posted a summary because until now I haven't been able to get it to work. Mostly because I have to wait for maintenance windows and network resource availability to get it to work. I even opened a call with Sun and they concurred that I had it configured properly. I was a few patch levels back so I tried adding them and it didn't work. The problem turned out to be that one of the 5 switches didn't know about the other two VLANs. As soon as we added the other two vlans two the CISCO switch using the vlan data command, everything started to work. The original problem was that on Solaris 8 (E420R) using a CE gigabite MMF card 802.1q wasn't working properly. Thanks for all of the suggestions as they helped to narrow down possible causes of this issue.
