I had various responses and the overriding theme was not many successful experiences with being able to do this using non-sun branded cards. I'm using Emulex HBAs and HBAnywhere...on newest 2900 boxes I'm able to see newly added SAN disks without reboot. However, on the 490 system in question, I have not been able to get it to work. Not sure at this point if I need to update the driver or what...
