All Many thanks to all of you who responded to my pleadings, especially Jeff Claunch, Steve Starer and Matthew D'Arcy, but not to those with the ever helpful 'Out of Office' responses. I did attempt to back out the cluster but that proved to be too time consuming, so in the end I did the decent thing and rebuilt the system from the install disks and then patched again; however, I did follow the advice of Steve and go to the single user mode from a reboot (reboot -- -s) before installing the patch cluster. Once the patch cluster was successfully installed, I then mirrored the disks. I know it is a cop-out, but I was time constrained against a delivery deadline, so unfortunately I don't have a decent reason as to why it occurred in the first place, and hopefully if I follow this procedure next time, I won't have the problem again. Thanks - Ian -----Original Message----- From: sunmanagers-bounces@sunmanagers.org [mailto:sunmanagers-bounces@sunmanagers.org] On Behalf Of Ian Topham Sent: 12 January 2007 11:04 To: sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org Subject: WARNING: /proc could not be mounted Gurus I am in the process of configuring a v210 system with Solaris 9 9/04 and then applying the patch cluster which contains the kernel patch 118558-20, please don't ask why. I've installed the OS, mirrored the disks and installed the patch cluster. After rebooting the system I now get this: - Rebooting with command: boot Boot device: /pci@1c,600000/scsi@2/disk@1,0:a File and args: SunOS Release 5.9 Version Generic_118558-20 64-bit Copyright 1983-2003 Sun Microsystems, Inc. Type control-d to proceed with normal startup, (or give root password for system maintenance): Is there a 'get out of jail' procedure for this problem, or do I have to go to site to rebuild the system? I've tried the fsck option, but I get a Bus Error when I attempt it. Any Ideas? Thanks - Ian This email is confidential and may be privileged.
