Got responses from: Crist Clark, Jan Dreyer, Hassan.Ahmed and Markus Mayer; thanks ! General consensus is that it should be OK as long as the two global zones are identical wrt patches & installed software. In my case it is, both global zones are SF T1000 at the same patch level and the same software installed. Markus Mayer has even kindly offered a Sun document describing the process of moving containers at this url: http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/howtoguides/moving_containers.jsp#0 Thanks again, George On Tue, 25 Sep 2007 16:31:11 -0400 (EDT), George Kahler <george@yorku.ca> wrote: > I have tar'ed one of my sparse root non-global zone , > /zones/<some_zone_name> from one server to another server while making > sure that I have updated all of the /etc/zones xml and index files. > > This seems to work and saved me tons of time especially when I needed an > identical non-global zone in a hurry. > > The question I have is if anyone knows of any issues with doing this. > > Thanks, > George _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Mon Oct 22 09:29:01 2007
