Thanks Dale, Scott, Anthony and William. Their replies are appended below : ========================================================= You'll need to do a reboot : shutdown -g0 -y -i6 ========================================================= Did you reboot after applying them? Sun's patch process does this now to avoid having new versions of files break what's currently running. This should all go away once you reboot. ========================================================= > Thanks Dale. > Would this situation of not rebooting give rise to the users problem, > ie SDE application can't save data to the Oracle Db? (ie some sort > of resource was depleted on the system after the patch) It is possible, but cannot be sure without knowing which patches. Even with that information, I may not be able to speak with certainty. I know that I have encountered similar problems and restarting resolved the issue. ========================================================= We also have a T5120 running 6 SDE instances. If SDE is listening on 5155 (and the default is 5151 so be careful), then it must show up in netstat an. Try a netstat an | grep LISTEN instead. Did you try using the sdemon commands to check out SDE itself ? The df messages may be a red herring.
