Summary: Can't ssh to remote machine

Dear managers,

thanks for your kind help. I finally found the reason for my problems 
which shouldn't have taken so long. It of course has noting to do with 
the new TCP stack but with my own stupidity. Since the new machine is 
supposed to be braught to the remote site where all the other machines 
are located (that I could not reach) I already had configured one of 
the 4 network interfaces for this (remote) network. It makes sense that 
traffic for this network does not exit the machine then. I removed this 
configuration and ta da ... everything works like a charm!

I promise I will go to bed earlier tonight! :-)
