Thanks to the replys from Anthony, Steve and James. Here are a few ways to do this Use iostat -E or the "inquiry" option in format to see the serial numbers then match them to the sticker on the drive. dd if=/dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s2 of=/dev/null then see which drives starts blinking like crazy. I note that you can also use the format utility, pick the drive and then do a nondestructive read analyze and note which drive light starts blinking. On a Blade 2000, the bottom drive is always t1, and the top drive is always t2. My original question: On a sunblade 2000 is there a way to tell if either the top hard drive or the bottom hard drive is c1t1 vs. c1t2? I have two drives in the system and one I need to replace which is c1t2d0. # format Searching for disks...done AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS: 0. c1t1d0 <SUN72G cyl 14087 alt 2 hd 24 sec 424> /pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@4/fp@0,0/ssd@w500000e010281731,0 1. c1t2d0 <drive type unknown> /pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@4/fp@0,0/ssd@w21000004cfe3e212,0 Specify disk (enter its number): Thanks, Dave Martini LLNL _______________________________________________ sunmanagers mailing list sunmanagers@sunmanagers.org http://www.sunmanagers.org/mailman/listinfo/sunmanagersReceived on Fri Jul 24 19:35:43 2009
